How it all started... ?
R. Gauja and ISCH AH Alexandra BIS3-veteran
Our first dog was the Irish Setter female, Tara, from Ýrar Kennel. She came to us the year 1994 when she was one year old. This bitch was unique, with very lovely temperment and loved children! My youngest daugter Rannveig Gauja were just two years old and the two of them were BEST friends, and did almost everything together fx. watched TV together, went out in the garden to play and slept often together under the kitchentable hehe. Tara died 7 years old because she had a cancer, that was a horrible lost and we miss her alot. R.I.P. our lovely Tara.
After Tara died we always had a dream of having another dog. And when we started to look for a dog, we were looking for Chihuahua, but we didn’t find any litter at that time or no puppies available. We were so lucky that we found a commercial on a dogwebsite here in Iceland, there we saw that one Papillon puppy was for sale. We had never heard of this breed before. And we just fell for our first female, Alexandra. We never planed to start a breeding but then we took part in dog shows and Alexandra did very well in the ring she became Icelandic Champion, so then our interest started in breeding.
My daugther Rannveig Gauja ('92) helps me alot with our dogs and we are in this breeding together. She shows our dogs and has done that with a very good results. She has also been handling for other people and handled several breeds with great results, you can see more of her handling here.
Gauja also was in Junior Handling with a good results both here in Iceland and abroad. She was in the Icelandic Junior handling team at Nordic Winner 2009 and they got 2nd place - and Gauja was also in the Top 10 in the individual competition. Now she is "too old" to compete in JH but she ended as Top Junior Handler of year 2009 and competed representing Iceland on Crufts the biggest dogshow in the world, that was a great experience for her.
Our first litter was in 2003, and we had two lovely puppies and they were both healthy and did well on shows and then there was no turning back. Our goal is to breed healthy, happy papillons of a great quality.
Our first export, was to the UK, Fiðrilda Naughty But Nice Suniren aka. TANGO went to live with the famous Gleniren Sunshoo papillons - and our second export also went to live with them, our co-bred Aiming High Up The Amp Suniren aka. JAZZ! They have both been doing great things in the show ring and already won BOB-puppy, BIS-puppy & BOB! We are very proud of them and want to thank their owners for taking such a good care of them!
We've imported few dogs with our co-breeders, Aiming High & Höfðaborgar - from Sweden, Germany and United Kingdom
We want to thank those breeders for trusting us for those lovely Papillons.
